Responsibilities

Analyze data and develop remote sensing methods, algorithms, and physical models to address important questions related to the cryosphere.

Focus on understanding the role of ice and snow in the Earth System, including changes, mechanisms controlling those changes, and impacts on the Earth System.

Study sea ice variability, energy and moisture exchange between ocean and atmosphere, and the influences of sea ice on ocean circulation.

Research glaciers and ice sheets to understand their growth or shrinkage, contributions to sea level rise, and interactions with the climate system.

Collect and analyze in situ, aircraft, and satellite observations, and develop sophisticated models to characterize the behavior of snow and ice.
