Responsibilities
Answer inbound calls from customers seeking to access, understand, or utilize Cigna Behavioral Health services.
Register participants in the intake system and open case files.
Educate participants on their benefits, clinical and non-clinical resources available, and assist with the intake process.
Assess for potential risk of harm or substance abuse concerns.
Provide participants with names and contact information for the nearest healthcare providers.
Handle administrative tasks such as writing authorizations, sending eligibility requests, and initiating the grievance process.
Provide follow-up calls to ensure that correct information is given and services are accessible.
Maintain high-quality customer service in line with department standards and resolve issues on the first call whenever possible.

Required
Bachelor’s degree in a mental health field, psychology, social work, health coaching, family communications, community/public health, or a related major (required)
Previous experience in customer service or a related field
Effective interpersonal communication, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks
Ability to problem-solve independently and function without constant supervision
Strong typing and PC skills, including word processing and the ability to learn new computer software systems
Ability to learn new workflows and tasks quickly
Must demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and attention to detail when handling sensitive calls
behavioural/mental health: 2 years (Required)
Preferred
Previous experience in a call center environment is preferred
Previous experience with healthcare services and customer advocacy roles
Ability to handle sensitive and emotionally charged calls with empathy and professionalism
