Responsibilities

Understand clients’ data center needs and requirements.

Recommend appropriate data center solutions based on client needs and objectives.

Communicate complex data center topics effectively to both technical and non-technical personnel.

Collaborate with the sales team to scope and design data center solutions for potential customers.

Create and present technical proposals, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and Statements of Work (SOW).

Participate in client meetings and provide technical expertise during the sales process.

Design scalable, secure, and robust data center architectures incorporating servers, storage, cooling, cabling, bandwidth, power management, virtualization, and disaster recovery solutions.

Ensure designed solutions meet industry standards and best practices.

Maintain deep technical knowledge of data center technologies, including servers, storage solutions, cooling systems, cabling infrastructure, bandwidth requirements, power management, virtualization platforms, security measures, and disaster recovery plans.

Stay updated on the latest developments in data center technologies and services.

Provide technical guidance and support for data center solutions.

Work closely with Howard Consulting Engineers, Project Managers, and subcontractors to ensure successful project delivery.

Act as a technical escalation point during pre-sales activities and solution implementations.

Produce and maintain detailed data center architecture and design documentation.

Ensure all project documentation and collateral are accurate and adequately stored.

Stay updated with industry trends by participating in relevant educational opportunities, reading professional materials, and networking.

Contribute insights for improving our data center service offerings and strategies.

Required

At least five years of experience in IT with a focus on data center infrastructure.

Proven expertise in designing and implementing data center solutions.

Extensive experience with data center technologies such as servers, storage, cooling, cabling, bandwidth, power management, virtualization, security, and disaster recovery.

Strong understanding of data center security, compliance, and best practices.

Ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

Previous experience in a pre-sales or customer-facing role is advantageous.

Exceptional interpersonal skills and team orientation.

Strong technical understanding and ability to troubleshoot complex problems.

Proficiency in project management and data center architecture tools.

Ability to complete tasks without supervision and meet customer deadlines and timelines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously and adapt to the changing needs of the business.
