Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes for collecting and transforming complex big data sets for machine learning models and production systems

Develop cost-efficient and optimized solutions for moving big data from on-premises servers to a cloud environment through automated streaming architecture

Implement data validation and monitoring processes to ensure data quality and compliance with security requirements

Deploy packages and software for processing data in production, with proficiency in Python and SQL

Implement data schema and management improvements for scale and performance

Collaborate with IT and database administrators to establish security protocols and migrate data to the AWS cloud

Act as the team's authority on data infrastructure, privacy controls, and data security.

Work closely with data scientists and machine learning engineers to understand user requirements and support continuous improvement efforts

Required

Proficient in Python and SQL and familiar with Java, Scala, or C++

Experience in big-data environments, including tools like Hive, Spark, Delta Lake, Kafka, etc

Proficiency in cloud-based data platforms, including, but not limited to, AWS and Databricks, is required for data processing, wrangling, and model deployment. For AWS, expertise in EC2, S3, VPC, Lambda, EMR, Athena, Glue, SageMaker, and Transfer Family services is essential. Regarding Databricks, expertise in at least Data Engineering and SQL Platforms is required

Experience with technical design, problem-solving, debugging, and developing for continuous integration and automated deployments

Use of profiling tools, debugging logs, performance metrics, and other data sources to make code- and application-level improvements

Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail

Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate in a team environment

Preferred

In-depth understanding of modern machine learning methods, models, and their mathematical foundations

Experience in the telecommunications or ISP industry

Strong foundation in statistics, data structures, and algorithms

Experience in monitoring, testing, and supporting online systems

Interest in improving engineering systems and practices for creating high-quality software
