Responsibilities

Deploying, configuring, and updating database software and servers

Monitoring and optimizing database performance and tuning

Backing up and restoring databases and ensuring data integrity

Implementing and enforcing database security policies and procedures

Creating and managing user accounts, roles, and permissions

Developing and maintaining a governance framework for data access and administration

Documenting and reporting on database activities and issues

Troubleshooting and resolving database problems and incidents

Collaborating with other IT teams and stakeholders on database projects and initiatives

Required

A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field

Minimum 5 years of experience as a data engineer or a similar role

Proficiency in SQL and database management systems (such as Azure SQL, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)

Knowledge of database design, architecture, and security principles

Knowledge of Data Mesh and Hub-n-Spoke architecture

Experience in database backup, recovery, and migration

Familiarity with data governance and compliance standards and best practices

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Attention to detail and accuracy

Forward-planning skills, and ability to manage and prioritize own workload effectively

Self-starter who is committed to the job, with flexibility to work outside of regular business hours, as needed
