Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day activities and prioritization of work for the BX Data Engineering team
Collaborate with cross-functional groups (i.e., engineering, design, project management) and stakeholders to proactively identify needs and design, plan, and realize data engineering solutions used in applications for clinical trial data collection that both make data available for further use and generate value out of data
Build frameworks and data repositories that allow data scientists and data engineers to work in complex projects
Ensure quality, availability, and integrity of code, solutions, and respective systems and integrate best practices related to data integrity, scalability, etc.
Collaborate with the engineering team to specify client-facing data dictionaries that define and explain the data schema used by the BX platform to capture clinical trial data
Contribute to the development of project plans and resource allocation, and then deliver consistently against those commitments
Foster a continuous improvement and learning culture within the Data team and provide oversight, coaching, and mentoring to individual team members
Participate in brainstorming sessions to discuss technical and functional requirements to ensure appropriate functionality of data and analytics projects
Contribute to the methodology by which advanced analytics projects are delivered to clients and codify the tooling needed to support them
Provide subject matter expertise and guidance across multiple areas of data and engineering

Required
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field of study
7-10 years of software development experience working on multi-discipline teams
Expert knowledge in a variety of tools and frameworks (i.e., Snowflake, Quicksight, Tableau, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, RedShift, Sage Maker, Kubernetes, etc.)
AWS ecosystem (i.e., Lambda, Glue, S3, E2C, etc.)
Programming tools and querying languages (i.e., Python, C++, SQL, Scala, Java, etc.)
Ability to think creatively, take initiative, learn new technical topics, and quickly develop new technical skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to a wide audience
Proficiency with Agile development methodology, issue tracking (JIRA and Confluence), and more specifically the Scrum software development framework
Preferred
Master’s degree
Experience with clinical development solutions and understanding of clinical trial processes
