Responsibilities
Understand the high-level, technical and complex portfolio of IT systems within the Office of Patent Automation (OPA).
Analyze and evaluates data collection and statistical methodologies and develop new or improved data collection methods.
Identify actual or potential problem areas for study and resolution.
Develop process for conducting statistical and mathematical analysis of data to develop projections and recommendations.
Develop and presents briefings to senior USPTO leadership on complex issues involving large data sets.

Required
Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
Specialized experience: Experience that demonstrates advance technical range of knowledge in statistical and mathematical analyses in support of the Information Technology (IT) needs; applying principles, methods, and techniques of data science to extract and develop insights from data sets and to provide advice, guidance, and recommendations for data-driven decision making and solutions.
