Responsibilities
Understand everything about everything as it relates to Data Warehousing on Azure.
Implement and manage the operational aspects of cloud-native and hybrid data platform solutions built on Microsoft Azure PaaS platforms.
Provide expertise and ownership of Azure Databricks database development tasks within a scrum team.
Interact effectively with clients and leadership, adapting communication for the appropriate audience.
Read and comprehend software requirements, assisting with development of agile user stories and tasks.
Assist with troubleshooting database configuration and performance issues.
Assist with Databricks deployments, testing, configuration, and installation.
Assist with performance tuning.
Ensure security is a priority and understand the various areas where security vulnerabilities arise with database technologies.
Ensure data resiliency, and disaster recovery capabilities.
Comprehensive understanding of backups, restores, redundancy, geo-replication and Azure storage concepts.
Create detailed documentation for the database.
Facilitate knowledge sharing within the team for effective collaboration.

Required
5+ years proven experience working with Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, and other relational database technologies supported in Azure
Strong experience with relational and/or dimensional data modeling
Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Explorer, Azure Event Hubs, Spark Pools, Dedicated/Serverless SQL Pools, PowerBI, Azure Landing Zones, Azure Networking Services, AAD/EntraID
Strong familiarity with NoSQL technologies such as Azure Cosmos DB
Experienced with Azure geo-redundancy, HA/failover, Datasync technologies
Experienced with log-shipping and database disaster recovery
Strong experience with performance tuning and optimization (PTO)
Strong expertise and experience with Azure DevOps tools in an Azure production setting
Strong experience with Azure Data Studio, Visual Studio database management/projects/design capabilities, Azure CLI, and Powershell
Azure Database Administrator will need to have expertise in T-SQL and Stored Procedures
Experience with SQL Server versions 2005 – 2022
Experience running and troubleshooting SSIS packages
Strong and current familiarity with Azure platforms and services, including Azure App Services, Azure API Management, Azure Monitor, Azure Application Insights, Azure SQL, etc.
Strong understanding of security best practices for Azure database deployments, including access controls, IAM, data encryption (TDE), Azure key vaults and masking
Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Preferred
Strong familiarity with NoSQL technologies such as Azure Cosmos DB is a plus
Experience with Oracle, either in Azure or on-prem, is a plus
Familiarity and hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform is a plus
Familiarity with programming languages such as Visual Studio, C# or Python and data constructs such as JSON or XML is strongly desired
Awareness of FedRAMP, FISMA, and/or Zero Trust Architecture strongly desired
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation using tools like Azure DevOps
Experience with Agile methodologies
