Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain DB2 databases on various platforms (LUW, z/OS, or both).
Perform database upgrades, patches, and migrations as needed.
Create, manage, and monitor database instances, tablespaces, and objects.
Analyze and optimize query performance, indexes, and database configurations.
Monitor and resolve performance bottlenecks using tools and utilities.
Implement advanced performance tuning techniques for high-demand environments.
Develop and implement backup and recovery plans using tools like DB2 Backup and Recovery utilities.
Ensure data integrity and availability through effective disaster recovery strategies.
Perform regular disaster recovery testing.
Configure database security policies, including authentication and authorization.
Manage user access, roles, and privileges.
Monitor databases for security breaches and ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Proactively monitor database health and resolve issues related to connectivity, performance, and configuration.
Utilize tools like IBM Data Server Manager, db2pd, and db2diag for diagnostics.
Provide on-call support for critical database incidents and outages.
Develop and maintain scripts for automating routine database tasks (e.g., backups, maintenance).
Use scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or Perl for task automation.
Collaborate with development teams to design and optimize database solutions.
Document database configurations, processes, and policies for reference and auditing purposes.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior DBAs and support staff.
