Responsibilities
Lead Strategic Fundraising Initiatives: Partner with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Board Chair to design and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies that align with First Star’s mission and long-term vision. Champion a high-impact fundraising plan that supports organizational growth and sustainability.
Steer Organizational Funding Priorities: Collaborate closely with senior leadership and the Board of Directors to drive the development and execution of diverse funding strategies that strengthen First Star’s financial foundation, with an emphasis on sustainable, mission-aligned funding sources.
Oversee Endowment Campaign Strategy: Spearhead the design and execution of a robust endowment campaign, creating and optimizing the internal systems, capacity, and operational processes required to ensure the campaign’s success in securing First Star’s long-term financial stability.
Expand Strategic Philanthropic Partnerships: Cultivate, steward, and expand relationships with high-level corporate leaders, foundations, major donors, and other key stakeholders nationwide to increase philanthropic support for First Star. Serve as the organization’s senior representative in building strategic relationships with influential partners and supporters.
Elevate Organizational Profile and Donor Engagement: Drive awareness and advocacy for First Star’s mission by engaging diverse donor audiences and building strategic alliances. Strategically increase the organization’s visibility and appeal to elevate its profile in the philanthropic community.
Enhance Board and Campaign Leadership: Strengthen the Board’s fundraising capabilities, recruit influential advisors, mobilize ambassadors, and establish a high-performing campaign committee to drive organizational fundraising efforts.
Expand Individual and Corporate Giving Programs: Strategically increase individual and corporate giving by leveraging First Star’s solid foundation of grant funding, positioning the organization for continued growth and financial security.
Support National Fundraising Initiatives: Provide strategic oversight and support to First Star’s national network of partners, ensuring alignment with organizational fundraising goals and strengthening local fundraising efforts.
Grant Management and Reporting Oversight: Oversee timely and high-quality submissions of proposals and reports in collaboration with the grants manager, ensuring accountability and alignment with funders’ expectations.
Develop and Disseminate Fundraising Tools and Resources: Create, manage, and distribute comprehensive fundraising resources to empower First Star’s academy partners in their local fundraising initiatives.
Foster a Culture of Philanthropy: Lead initiatives that promote a strong culture of philanthropy across the organization, enhancing internal capacity, accountability, and commitment to sustainable fundraising success.

Required
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of proven success in fundraising and direct solicitation.
Demonstrated expertise in working with private, family, and corporate foundations.
Established record of securing five- and six-figure gifts.
Experience collaborating with Board members to identify, cultivate, and engage prospective donors.
Comprehensive knowledge of fundraising strategies, including foundation grants, major gifts, endowment campaigns and special events.
Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple high-priority initiatives in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Forms) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Demonstrated ability to thrive under ambitious deadlines in a dynamic, entrepreneurial setting.

Preferred
Familiarity with foster youth, educational organizations, or the philanthropic sector is highly preferred.
