Responsibilities
Develop and manage a high-performing team of functional managers centered around a culture of accountability, engagement, continuous improvement, and inclusion. Support and enable career growth and professional development, with succession planning in mind.
Set and manage high performance expectations for the curriculum department through support and supervision of functional managers and the teams they lead.
Establish and implement success criteria for the curriculum development organization. Ensure curriculum development support documentation and training is aligned to and equips team to achieve those success criteria.
Direct regular evaluation and revision of support documentation and training as needed to support the success of internal and external development teams and to stay aligned with industry best practices and innovations.
Foster a community of trust and engagement through consistent communication and transparency around strategic direction and decision-making. Develop and maintain a connection to the people in your organization and an understanding of the work they do.
Employ data analysis, understanding of the business context, judgment, and appropriate approaches (e.g. authoritative, consensus building) to make effective, timely decisions. Own the communication, stakeholder management, and outcomes of your decisions.
Support the Director of Development Management and the project management team in evaluating, establishing, and managing development partners.
Stay up-to-date with the PVS product roadmap and strategy to ensure the curriculum development teams are informed, equipped, and empowered to be successful.
Support the effective use of Pearson curriculum and seek out and respond to customer feedback through collaboration with the instructional partner, product marketing, and training and go-to-market teams.
Represent PVS and the curriculum department in customer engagements, e.g. school leader meetings; school board meetings; department of education meetings; sales presentations.
Represent PVS and the curriculum department at internal and external conferences including preparing and delivering presentations.
Lead the effective implementation, integration, and execution of department initiatives, including the responsible adoption of Generative AI; school-dedicated curriculum teams; and others, and of company initiatives, as part of the larger Pearson content development community of practice
Oversee process improvements and change management.
Facilitate conflict resolution and relationship development with internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrate depth and/ or breadth of expertise in own specialized field and provides expertise to various stakeholders

Required
Master’s degree in Education or related field desired
Minimum of 10 years of experience in curriculum development or related functional areas
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the US K-12 education space, with at least 3 years in virtual learning preferred
Proven ability as a second-line manager, with success in developing managers and in driving their teams’ outcomes
Thorough understanding of K-12 academic standards and requirements, and their application in public institutions
Familiarity with current and proposed state legislation as it pertains to curriculum, virtual education, K-12 schools, etc.
Advanced knowledge of education management systems, learning management systems, and/or content management systems
Technologically proficient with Microsoft® Office, Azure Dev Ops, Google Suite, and ability to learn other software programs and technology platforms quickly
Must enjoy a challenging work environment that requires flexibility, self-direction, creativity, strong communication, and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
