Director of Civil Engineering

Responsibilities
Perform quality review of contract documents including plans, specifications, and estimates.
Manage projects, clients, staff, and schedules within the Civil Engineering Department.
Collaborate with VP/Accounting to prepare invoices for Civil Design projects.
Manage financial performance of the Design projects.
Review employee progress with VP, set goals, and address disciplinary actions.
Enforce company policies, document performance-related activities, and monitor employee workload.
Ensure projects stay within scope and budget guidelines.
Direct engineering team in formulating plans, designs, cost estimates, and specifications for civil projects.
Assist in design plans using Civil3D, storm drainage, and water quality treatment systems.
Review and approve engineering designs, visit project sites, and ensure compliance with regulations.
Provide technical expertise to personnel regarding design work.
Partner with CEO & Marketing Director in the absence of the VP for proposal preparation.
Participate in client meetings, prepare reports, and handle other assigned duties.

Required
Bachelor's degree (B. S., or B.A.) in Civil Engineering
NY Professional Engineer (P.E.)
Minimum of ten (10) years related experience in A/E/C industry
Knowledge/experience of project management principles, practices in civil and traffic engineering design
Experience with New York (city and state) agencies and their respective design criteria/guidelines
Significant experience in roadway engineering including vertical and horizontal alignments, storm drainage and analysis, utility design, MPT/WZTC
Experience with respective federal and state design guidelines such as AASHTO
Proficiency with AutoCAD with Civil 3D, MicroStation, Inroads, Bluebeam, and Adobe
Skilled in managing clients, projects, and engineers/CAD operators with professional demeanor
Ability to create and finalize construction drawings
Strong experience with management software including Microsoft Project or Primavera
Knowledge of principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques and the coordination of people and resources
Expertise of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints and drawings
Strong understanding of government regulations, OSHA regulations and safety procedures
Organized and detailed oriented, with the ability to maintain accuracy while handling multiple requests in a growing company environment
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams and other virtual meeting platforms as required
