Responsibilities

Develop a comprehensive plan to establish the in-house civil engineering division, including setting goals, timelines, and budget requirements.
Create and implement strategic initiatives to ensure the division's long-term success and alignment with the company's overall goals.
Identify and source necessary resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
Oversee the planning, design, and execution of all civil engineering aspects of residential development projects.
Ensure all projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
Implement effective project management processes and tools to track progress, manage risks, and resolve issues.
Recruit, hire, and train a high-performing civil engineering team, including engineers, drafters, and support staff.
Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and support to the engineering team.
Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Establish and enforce quality control standards and safety protocols for all civil engineering activities.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, building codes, and industry standards.
Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety.
Develop and manage the division's budget, including cost estimation, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Negotiate contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure cost-effective procurement and resource allocation.
Monitor and control project costs to maximize profitability and minimize financial risk.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including architects, developers, and municipal authorities.
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and ensure alignment with project goals.
Represent the company in public forums, meetings, and industry events.

Required

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on residential real estate development.
Proven experience in establishing and leading engineering teams and divisions.
Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and regulations.
Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in civil engineering software and tools.
Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Preferred

Advanced degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
