Responsibilities
The Director identifies the cost-effective systems needed to support the business trends, resource availability and changes in customers.
The Director establishes effective working relationships with all constituencies, including patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and vendors.
The Director will have oversight of the direct nursing care units, but additionally will have responsibility for other areas that directly impact congenital heart service line including Cath Lab, EP Lab and CVOR.
Responsible for coordinating, planning, organizing, delegating, directing and evaluating pediatric cardiac services delivered by Medical City Children’s Hospital, including in the CICU as well as other clinical departments, and potentially any future units which may be developed, based on the hospital mission, vision and facility goals related to the care of congenital heart program.
Collaborates and coordinates with other department leadership, for the functions and activities of nursing care performed in the above-mentioned areas in conformance with recognized nursing techniques and procedures, established standards, and administrative policies.
Develops and recommends policies, procedures or programs to improve or enhance the quality, efficiency and/or effectiveness of patient care within the specialty area in collaboration with medical staff and other disciplines.

Required
Master’s Degree in Nursing required.
Five (5) years’ experience in management, preferable in a hospital setting with experience to include management of personnel, payroll, budgets, capital, business planning, marketing, and physician relations.
General acute pediatric and pediatric critical care preferred.
Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact license.
American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers or American Red Cross BLS.
Certification in clinical specialty or leadership, highly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to manage, plan, and communicate programs that follow the mission and success indicators to improve or enhance the quality, efficiency and/or effectiveness of patient care within the product line.
Must have knowledge of pediatric general acute and critical care nursing and the ability to drive the professional practice of nursing and develop a participative environment that supports nursing advocacy.
Must have the ability to drive unit performance in alignment with hospital strategic and quality goals.
