Responsibilities

Lead the development, implementation, and enforcement of a comprehensive information security strategy, ensuring all systems, on-premise, cloud, and hybrid, are secure against evolving cybersecurity threats.
Actively manage and deploy security tools, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), endpoint protection, and security information and event management (SIEM) solutions across data centers and cloud environments.
Regularly conduct penetration testing and hands-on vulnerability assessments to proactively identify and fix security gaps. Lead efforts to patch vulnerabilities and continuously monitor for new threats.
Directly configure and maintain access control systems, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and encryption solutions to safeguard critical data.
Oversee the creation, testing, and execution of incident response procedures, ensuring a hands-on role in managing security breaches and system outages, leading technical teams through resolution and forensic analysis.
Develop and implement network segmentation and least privilege access models within the data center, ensuring that security is built into both physical and virtual infrastructure from the ground up.
Actively participate in compliance audits, preparing technical documentation and overseeing the practical implementation of security controls to meet regulatory requirements.
Stay updated with and deploy the latest cybersecurity tools and techniques, using hands-on approaches to monitor, identify, and mitigate advanced persistent threats (APT), malware, and other evolving cyber threats.
Oversee the hands-on installation, configuration, and management of Dell servers in a Windows and virtualized environment (VMware, Hyper-V). Build and configure physical and virtual servers, ensuring robust performance, scalability, and security.
Lead efforts in creating, managing, and maintaining virtual machines (VMs), ensuring optimal resource allocation, system performance, and security for various workloads.
Directly manage server hardware components, including CPU, RAM, storage, and networking interfaces, ensuring physical hardware is properly configured, maintained, and optimized for high availability.
Perform regular server and VM performance tuning, monitoring CPU, memory, disk I/O, and network utilization to proactively detect bottlenecks and maintain uptime.
Oversee the deployment and configuration of hypervisors, ensuring efficient use of virtual infrastructure while maintaining strict security controls.
Manage physical and virtual network components, ensuring seamless integration between on-premise servers and virtual environments, including the configuration of network interfaces, VLANs, and virtual switches.
Provide on-site leadership for data center operations, managing security, cooling, power distribution, and environmental factors while ensuring redundancy and uptime.
Ensure all systems are backed up regularly, with hands-on oversight of backup technologies and strategies, including tape, cloud backups, and replication across multiple sites for disaster recovery.
Maintain comprehensive documentation on all server and VM builds, network configurations, and data center layouts, ensuring proper change control processes are followed during system upgrades and modifications.
Lead the strategy and management of cloud environments, primarily focusing on Microsoft Azure, ensuring seamless integration with on-premise systems while maintaining security, cost-effectiveness, and compliance.
Ensure robust cloud security architecture by enforcing policies for access control, encryption, and identity management, and monitoring for any potential vulnerabilities or breaches.
Monitor cloud resource usage, optimizing for cost, scalability, and security, with particular attention to Azure’s security features such as Azure Security Center and Azure Active Directory.
Oversee the migration of workloads and applications from on-premise data centers to cloud platforms, ensuring minimal disruption and adherence to security best practices during transitions.
Develop and enforce security policies and protocols, focusing on network security, application security, identity, and access management (IAM), and data protection.
Lead the design and execution of security audits, compliance checks, and security awareness programs within the organization, ensuring ongoing alignment with industry regulations and standards.
Establish and oversee incident detection, prevention, and response strategies, deploying intrusion detection/prevention systems, firewalls, and endpoint security solutions to protect data center and cloud operations.
Lead, mentor, and manage teams of system administrators, cloud engineers, and cybersecurity professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation.
Provide strategic guidance to cross-functional teams, including DevOps, network engineers, and development teams, ensuring alignment between security protocols and operational objectives.
Lead efforts in training and capacity-building for the cybersecurity and system administration teams, ensuring they are equipped with the latest tools, techniques, and knowledge of cybersecurity threats and countermeasures.
Manage large-scale IT projects, including data center upgrades, cloud migrations, and the integration of new technologies, ensuring projects meet timelines, budgets, and security standards.
Implement and enforce a robust change control process, ensuring that updates, patches, and system modifications are documented and tested to avoid service disruptions.
Collaborate with external vendors and consultants to stay ahead of emerging technology trends, enhancing both data center operations and security protocols.
