Responsibilities

Lead and coach a team of 5 Food Scientists, technologists, and technicians.

Drive strategy for new product application development from bench-top prototyping through pilot and plant trials.

Provide strategic technical expertise on EVERY proteins and their application in various food categories.

Serve as the technical lead in cross-functional partnerships with operations, manufacturing, quality assurance, marketing, and business development/sales.

Develop and maintain technical knowledge of target categories and competitive environment.

Provide applications/category competitive intelligence to sales, marketing, and R&D personnel.

Support initial B2B sales activity with technical understanding of products and value proposition.

Review team's technical reports, memorandums, and product literature.

Lead IP strategy on applications-related IP.

Potential travel to B2B partner locations.

Other assigned tasks as needed.

Required

MS/PhD in Food Science with 10+ years of industrial experience in food protein ingredients/products R&D or applications.

4+ years of people management experience

Advanced knowledge in food chemistry and processing, ingredient functionalities and interactions and product formulation.

Experience taking novel products from benchtop to pilot and industrial scale and adapting benchtop formulations for scaled up equipment and processes.

Prior experience working collaboratively and cross functionally with functions including Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Business Development/Sales etc.

Previous experience with Food B2B, CPG or food service.

Experience working externally with B2B partners and vendors.

Experience creating and formally presenting work in small and large group settings

Strong written and verbal communication.

Must be authorized to work in the United States for The EVERY Company DBA Clara Foods.
