Responsibilities

Directs and oversees the software engineering function in developing, releasing, maintaining, and documenting software applications according to business needs (25%)

Establishes policies and procedures that produce high-quality software (15%)

Provides technical consultation as well as subject matter expertise to Product Development and Software Development teams (15%)

Hires, trains, and supervises Software Engineering staff and managers (15%)

Helps to define Software Engineering policies and budget (15%)

Removes technical obstacles from the Software Development team so that they can attain optimal team performance (10%)

Coordinates and manages on-call rotations (5%)

Required

At least three (3) years of experience managing large engineering teams, including both managers and individual contributors

Technical leadership experience in design and implementation of application services that are highly reliable, scalable, and flexible

Strong experience in various elements of software development as an individual contributor prior to a leadership role

Proven record of creating sweeping improvements in stability, performance, security, and scalability across major business-critical systems

Experience mentoring top technical and leadership talent

Set the strategic direction for the software engineering team, including identifying and prioritizing key initiatives and projects

A./B.S. in related field or equivalent work experience
