Responsibilities
Oversee the calculation and reporting of gain calculations for the year end tax form mailing in accordance with IRS guidelines.
Ensure accurate reporting and compliance with tax laws for transactions related to investment products, including mutual funds, equities, and annuities.
Lead the effort in ensuring compliance with the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act (TEFRA) and the Technical and Miscellaneous Revenue Act (TAMRA). Stay updated on evolving tax laws and IRS guidance related to TAMRA and TEFRA rules to ensure the company’s compliance.
Oversee the cost basis reporting, ensuring that accurate calculations are made. Collaborate with other operations teams as needed to assist in any Cost Basis related questions.
Ensure the timely and accurate preparation and filing of 1099’s yearly.
Lead the newly established tax team in all aspects of tax related functions.
Develop and implement strategies to enhance the process and provide education to other areas within operations.
Establish key controls and risk-based quality functions as needed to ensure compliance with all aspects of the tax functions.
Design and develop administrative policies, workflows, metrics, and dashboards for the tax related functions.

Required
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in tax compliance, reporting, and planning, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Experience with complex tax compliance, including knowledge of TAMRA, TEFRA, Cost Basis, Gain Calculations and PS58’s.
In-depth knowledge of IRS regulations, specifically those related to life insurance and annuities.
Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to drive change and improvement in processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with both internal teams as well as Financial Professionals and customers.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum of 10 Years of progressive experience in the life insurance and annuity industry with at least 5 years working in a tax leadership function.
