Responsibilities
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of riverine systems for the Risk Mapping, Assessment, and Planning program.
Execute GIS-based flood risk modeling software applications such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, FLO-2D, and SWMM.
Prepare floodplain and watershed studies in compliance with FEMA standards and specifications.
Process GIS data and work with ArcGIS software for flood risk modeling and mapping.
Support field investigations and data collection for hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
Prepare project reports, engineering calculations, and technical engineering reports.
Collaborate with Water Resources Engineers and GIS specialists on various projects.
Adhere to company's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water Resources or closely related discipline.
0-1 years of relevant work experience.
Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
Familiarity with the concepts of professional water resources engineering work relating to water supply, quality, management, and treatment for various end uses – recreationally, commercially, and/or industrially.
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred
Engineer in Training Certification.
Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.
Coursework in hydrology / hydraulics and other relevant subjects.
Geographical Information Systems experience such as ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, Manifold, etc.
Experience with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-GeoRAS.
A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
