Responsibilities
Provide local geotechnical engineering assistance for the design, development, and construction of infrastructure projects
Assist with research, design, analysis, concept development, and construction of various structures
Generate accurate documentation regarding project aspects and ensure quality standards are met
Work on geotechnical and geological engineering projects involving field observations, data evaluation, and office work
Conduct field assignments such as site mapping, drilling supervision, and construction quality assurance monitoring
Perform engineering analyses, designs, and recommendations
Contribute to geotechnical data and recommendation reports with senior technical advice and review
Prepare construction documents including engineering drawings, specifications, and bid documents
Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures
Complete training on assigned tasks and adhere to company policies and procedures

Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical/Geological Engineering.
0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience
Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
Familiarity with process and concepts for design/build.
Familiarity with relevant remediation, permitting, improvement and construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS).
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred
Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, with focus on Civil/Geotechnical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
AutoCAD and GIS experience.
Experience with collecting field data and samples, and using field-based data collection applications.
Engineer in Training Certification.
Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.
A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations
