Responsibilities

Use reduced-form causal analysis and/or structural economic modeling methods to evaluate the impact of policies on employee outcomes, and examine how external labor market and economic conditions impact Amazon's ability to hire and retain talent.

Work with teammates to apply economic methods to business problems, including identifying research questions, implementing analysis, and presenting findings to business leaders.

Collaborate with partner teams to understand challenges, develop research agendas, and implement solutions.

Develop scientific models, conduct data analysis, modeling, and experimentation, and work closely with engineering teams to develop scalable data resources.

Communicate scientific approaches and findings to business leaders, incorporate feedback, and deliver successful scientific solutions.

Required

PhD in economics or equivalent

Knowledge of data analysis languages (e.g., R, Stata, Python, etc.) or other statistical software

Preferred

Experience in a postdoctoral position, consulting position, government position or academic research

Experience with SQL

Proven track record in research and solution of business problems leveraging techniques from economics or related disciplines

Demonstrable experience in any of the following areas of applied economics (multiple areas preferred): reduced-form causal analysis, structural estimation, predictive modeling and causal ML algorithms, forecasting, labor economics, health and insurance economics, education economics

Strong writing skills

Advanced coding ability in a scripting language such as Python

Experience working with large data sets
