Responsibilities

Oversee Regional Content: Lead the creation and management of regional chapters/modules within the Nexus Reports, ensuring content coherence, scientific rigor, and alignment with GCRI’s strategic objectives.
Team Management: Assemble and supervise a team of regional editors, subject-matter experts (SMEs), data analysts, and local contributors. Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations to ensure high-quality outputs.
Workflow Management: Develop and implement structured editorial workflows and timelines specific to the region. Coordinate with editorial teams to align regional schedules with global publication timelines.
Content Strategy: Define regional priorities and thematic focuses based on local challenges, opportunities, and stakeholder needs. Ensure that regional reports integrate seamlessly with global findings and recommendations.
Scientific Rigor: Collaborate with SMEs and data analysts to validate data interpretations, scenario assumptions, and policy conclusions. Ensure that all regional content adheres to GCRI’s quality assurance standards.
Peer Review Coordination: Facilitate double-blind peer reviews for technical sections, ensuring unbiased and thorough evaluations. Address reviewer feedback and oversee the incorporation of revisions.
Local Partnerships: Build and maintain relationships with regional governments, academic institutions, NGOs, community organizations, and private sector partners to source insights, data, and collaborative opportunities.
Inclusive Participation: Ensure that diverse voices, including those from marginalized and vulnerable communities, are represented in the regional reports. Organize consultations, focus groups, and workshops to gather comprehensive stakeholder feedback.
Knowledge Exchange: Promote cross-regional learning and best practices by facilitating knowledge exchange platforms, webinars, and regional forums.
Visual Consistency: Work with visual designers and data visualization experts to ensure that regional reports feature high-quality, accessible visuals that adhere to GCRI’s branding and design guidelines.
Accessibility: Ensure that reports are designed for accessibility, incorporating features such as alt-text for images, clear color contrasts, and user-friendly formats for diverse audiences.
Progress Tracking: Monitor the progress of regional report development against established timelines and milestones. Identify and mitigate any delays or obstacles.
Feedback Integration: Collect and incorporate feedback from regional stakeholders, reviewers, and internal teams to continuously improve the quality and relevance of the reports.
Adaptive Management: Stay informed about emerging regional risks, policy changes, and scientific advancements to keep regional reports current and forward-looking.

Required

Master’s or Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Public Policy, Sustainable Development, Climate Studies, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years in editorial roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position overseeing complex, multi-stakeholder publications or reports.
Strong understanding of the water-food-energy-health-climate nexus and experience in integrated resource management.
Excellent editorial and project management skills, with a proven ability to lead and inspire diverse teams.
Strong analytical and data interpretation capabilities, including experience with advanced risk modeling tools like GRIx analytics.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
Proficiency in using editorial management tools and software, as well as data visualization platforms.
Ability to align regional objectives with global standards and anticipate future challenges and opportunities.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with regional academic, policy, and community stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, fostering collaboration and maintaining high morale.
Meticulous in ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality across all report components.
Comfortable working in dynamic environments, managing multiple priorities, and adapting to changing circumstances.
Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of editorial work and stakeholder engagement.

Preferred

In-depth knowledge of the specific region’s environmental, social, and economic dynamics.
