Responsibilities
Electrical Calculations: Performs detailed electrical calculations including load flow analysis, voltage drop calculations, short circuit analysis, and protective device coordination for EV charging stations.
One-Line Diagrams: Develops and drafts accurate and comprehensive one-line diagrams for EV charging installations, ensuring all components and interconnections are correctly represented.
Design and Specification: Designs electrical systems for EV charging stations, including the selection and specification of equipment such as transformers, switchgear, distribution panels, circuit breakers, wiring, and protective devices.
Code Compliance: Ensures all designs comply with relevant local, state, and national electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC).
Technical Support: Provides technical support and guidance to project teams, clients, and contractors during the design, installation, and commissioning phases.
Project Documentation: Prepares and maintains project documentation, including design reports, calculations, technical specifications, and as-built drawings.
Coordination: Collaborates with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and integration of electrical systems.
Site Assessments: Conducts site assessments to gather necessary information for design and planning purposes.
Quality Assurance: Performs quality assurance checks and reviews of electrical designs and installations to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
Continual Improvement: Stays updated on the latest developments in EV charging technology and electrical engineering practices to enhance design efficiency and effectiveness.

Required
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Minimum of 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably with a focus on EV charging infrastructure or similar electrical systems
Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM PowerTools) and strong knowledge of electrical calculations
Familiarity with EV charging standards and protocols, such as SAE J1772, CCS, and CHAdeMO
Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Willingness to travel to project sites, as needed
Preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
California utility experience
