Responsibilities

Review plans and permits for conformity to City Code specifications and policies.
Design moderately complex municipal public works projects and prepare plans and specifications.
Act as project manager for assigned projects, conduct field investigations, and inspect construction.
Research and investigate project variables, make adaptations as needed, and assist in contract formulation.
Prepare progress reports, permit applications, and coordinate contracts for departmental issues.
Provide information to the public about public works projects and apply personnel policies.
Perform other related work as required.

Valid Driver's LicenseEngineer-In-Training CertificateEngineering Program Accredited by ABET

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or closely related field and two (2) years of experience in the practice of engineering
Valid Driver's License from any state (Equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application, however prior to appointment a State of Florida Driver's License (Class E or higher) must be presented to the Department of Human Resources and must be maintained valid through employment
Possession of the Engineer-In-Training Certificate and graduation from an engineering program accredited by the American Board of Engineering Technology (ABET) are highly desirable
An equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a high school diploma or its equivalent and six (6) months of the required experience
Special certification or a Master's degree in a specific discipline, such as Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or other engineering area, may be required
