Responsibilities

Will be responsible for quoting tooling cost, material weight per foot and running rates for new products.

Will negotiate final quality expectations and tolerances with customers prior to any tool build.

Design and build of secondary operations such as routers, saw fixtures, and tape applicators.

Work with outside tool shops making punches, metal coatings, heat treating.

Develop specifications and coordinate downstream equipment purchases like pullers, cutters, saws, screws, compressors, etc.

Troubleshoot processes in the manufacturing environment and develop and implement solutions to ongoing difficulties.

Train operators in both practical and theoretical extrusion process during development tests. Will have one operator trainee at all times working for you.

Work closely with the manufacturing department.

Should have knowledge of feed screw design and screw selection for different materials.

Will be responsible for maintaining engineering records, both electronic and hard copy.

Most communications are done through the customers' engineers and marketing personnel.

Required

Must have Knowledge of machine shop capabilities and limitations. Both conventional, CNC machining and wire EDM.

Must have proven experience (min 5-10 yrs.) designing and developing profile extrusion tooling.

Have ability to take a part print and then design and develop tooling for the extrusion process.

Must be able to collaborate with sales personnel to fully understand customer expectations and needs for specific products. When necessary assist and advise on material selections.

Be able to assist customers with product design to meet their needs and make their product as extrudable as possible to eliminate potential quality issues in manufacturing.
