Responsibilities

Receive environmental pollution, toxic tort, general liability, and/or professional liability claim assignments

Verify and determine applicability of coverage

Draft the appropriate coverage analysis letter in a timely manner

Determine the level of investigation and vendor involvement necessary for each claim and assigns legal and/or non-legal vendors in accordance with company procedures

Evaluate and manage both litigated and non-litigated claims, determine future course of handling and best method for early resolution

Recognize significant exposures and effectuate the process for communication with our internal business partners and the establishment of appropriate claim reserves in a timely fashion

Investigate risk transfer and/or recovery potential and is responsible for the development of the information required to be successfully in the pursuit

Accountable for the equitable and prompt adjustment and management of assigned claims to disposition in accordance with company Best Practices

Responsible for providing superior customer service to all brokers, insureds and others encountered during the claims handling process

Required

At least 8 years of experience handling complex general liability and/or environmental pollution and/or toxic tort and/or professional liability claims under both pollution products and general liability policies

College degree, Environmental Sciences background and/or law degree a plus

Will abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with C&F’s risk management controls

Excellent verbal and written communication skills (writing sample required)

Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs and the ability to learn in-house programs

Some travel may be required
