Responsibilities

Develops, adapts and matures the Foundation’s strategy (mission, vision, values, strategic plan) and provides strategic guidance to the departments.
Supports and directs public relations activities to build and maintain relationships with other organizations and the public.
Serves as a role model to staff for living the organization’s values.
Contributes to the selection of board members and acts as a liaison between board and staff.
Plans and prepares board meetings, meeting structure, and meeting agendas in coordination with the Board.
Drafts, presents, and recommends organizational policies and programs (in partnership with appropriate departments) to the Board in alignment with the Foundation’s strategy.
Reports to the Board of Directors, maintaining open communication and disclosure of the conditions, operations, and needs of the organization.
Executes other duties as requested by the Board of Directors.
Oversees preparation of the annual budget in collaboration with the various departments (finance, HR, fundraising, etc.).
Represents the Foundation and actively participates at public events and fundraisers to develop and maintain strong relationships with investors, stakeholders, and community members.
Facilitates periodic audits and compliance activities for the organization in accordance with federal, state and local laws and regulations as they relate to nonprofits to ensure the Foundation operates legally.
Ensures the Foundation abides by ethical standards.
In partnership with relevant departments, identifies, adopts and implements technology solutions that maximize productivity and efficiency.
In partnership with relevant departments, thoughtfully designs the Employee Experience by implementing inclusive and equitable policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with the Foundation’s values and strategy.
In partnership with HR, Drafts and implements performance standards; conducts performance reviews for senior leadership.
Works with the HR department to develop a human capital management strategy to ensure the Foundation has the skills and experience needed to achieve its strategy.
Manages reports with a mentorship lens to develop and grow their skill sets in alignment with their professional goals and organizational needs.

Required

Demonstrated success related to the job responsibilities and required qualifications; successful experience in a leadership role at a new and growing non-profit organization.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to develop, communicate, and engender commitment to the organization’s mission, vision and strategic plan.
Ability to manage and develop others with a mentorship/coaching lens.
Strong understanding of the financial and legal requirements of a non-profit organization.
Excellent verbal and written expression and comprehension communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with employees, government agencies, community leaders, and the general public.
Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously. Ability to function well, create structure, and be productive in an ambiguous environment.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team to stay aligned to and achieve collective goals.
A genuine interest in and commitment to the 15/10 Foundation’s mission and values.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Willingness and ability to figure it out and learn along the way.
Proficient with Google’s Suite of Tools

Preferred

Experience in the animal rescue space.
Experience with California’s employment laws.
Experience managing a multi-state, remote workforce.
Experience and understanding of successful social media engagement strategies.
