Responsibilities

Safety
Support and comply with company Health, Safety, & Environmental Program, Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace, and Harassment Free Work Environment Program
Understand and enforce safe work practices and personal protective equipment required for employees
Set yourself as an example for workplace safety
Inspect the worksite daily and insure a safe work environment
Report all accidents and incidents to Superintendent and a Safety Representative, regardless of how minor, as soon as possible and assist in investigation
Responsible for accessible, clean & organized work site
Ensure project personnel comply with all project procedures
Deliver weekly safety training to crew; properly document and send to Safety Manager in timely manner
Ensure all employees are authorized and/or certified as a competent person to perform their job
Budget Management
Thorough knowledge of projects plans and specifications
Thorough knowledge of types and application of materials required thru project completion
Maintain full knowledge of scope of work
Read and study job set up and cost reports
Recognize changes to scope of work & inform Superintendent or Project Manager
Project Planning and Coordination
Work with engineers, owners, or sub-contractors to accomplish tasks
Plan project work with Superintendent or Project Manager
Schedule project work with Superintendent or Project Manager
Maintain accurate and up to date “as built” drawings
Manage quality of work on project
Manage project field problems
Order and track material deliveries
Request inspections
Receive materials, inventories, store safely. Be accountable for inventory
Request utility locations
Coordinate layout & staking
Maintains ongoing project punch list
Schedule Management
Plan one to two days’ work in detail with back up plan
Plan one week ahead in lesser detail (needs, services, repairs)
Schedule equipment & material requirements
Coordinate people needs
Schedule subcontractors
Schedule trucking requirements
Labor Management
Supervise craft employees and /or sub-contractors to accomplish daily tasks
Assume responsibility and maintain productivity of craft employees
Resolve personnel problems among crew
Interview perspective employees and take disciplinary action for problem employees
Document all company and safety violations and notify Superintendent and Safety Manager; recommend and implement corrective actions as required
Timely evaluation of new hires at 90 days and then at least on a annual basis, thereafter, on proper forms
Train crewmembers for the next step in their career path
Evaluate potential employees for promotion/demotion
Create training opportunities for employees
Share experience and knowledge with crew
Share with crew overall project plan as well as short-term goals
Maintain and submit Employee Time Sheets
Complete and submit Job Reports in detail
Turn in signed material receipts with dailies. Include job number, cost code, and purchase order number written on receipt
Communication
Communicate openly with Superintendent(s), President, Project Manager, Shop Manager, Safety Manager, Human Resources, other Foreman, and all internal personnel
Communicate well with owners, engineers, inspectors, and other external customers
Deal effectively with conflicts with crew members as well as all internal and external customers
Leadership
Exhibit leadership qualities and set an example for other crew members to follow
Ability to communicate and work well others
Take ownership of project; take charge, make good decisions, avoid excuses
Motivate employees in a positive manor; lead by example; hold employees accountable
Equipment Management
Maintain equipment and equipment inventory
Take care of equipment and tools: greasing and cleanliness
Maximize equipment utilization
Manage and inventory small tools assigned
Schedule equipment needs with equipment manager
Responsible for proper usage and maintenance of equipment on job
Customer Service
Establish relationships with customers
Inspire confidence with customers, respond quickly and effectively
Present a professional appearance and demeanor

Required

CPR, First Aid, OSHA 30-Hour, LSC Basic Orientation Plus (BOP) and Site Specific Safety Certification is required.
Successful pre-employment background check for LMC and all military bases is required
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen is required
3-Year MVR Report required for driving company vehicles (as applicable) as per LMC and insurance guidelines
TWIC card for special projects may be required
Minimum 2 years of construction experience or combination of education and experience
Knowledge of principals, methods and standards of the designated trade’s area
Experience in the use and methods of tools and equipment commonly employed with the trade
Ability to read and understand plans and specifications
Performs work in accordance with standards and specifications
Must be physically able to exert up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
Work involves sitting, walking or standing for extended periods of time
Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of five to fifty pounds
Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes receiving assignments and instructions from supervisors
Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; adding and subtracting totals; multiplying and dividing
Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination
Has the ability to deal with people beyond receiving instructions
Must be able to perform under minimal stress when confronted with an emergency.
