Responsibilities

Complete new equipment installations, preventative maintenance activities, and emergency repairs with proper supporting documentation in compliance with Quality Assurance procedures

Communicate with customers to instill confidence in technical abilities and NanoString teams

Provide feedback to internal teams for system reliability improvements

Support Field Applications team to maximize equipment uptime and customer experience

Assist with NanoString Quality process improvement initiatives

Conduct hands-on field service in biotech/life science/robotics fields with biohazard safety precautions

Demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills in electronics, electromechanical systems, robotics, etc.

Manage customer expectations, provide outstanding customer service, and ensure a world-class customer experience

Work independently and in a team environment, communicate scientific data effectively, meet deadlines, and represent NanoString effectively in the field

Possess a general understanding of IT and basic networking setup

Be willing to travel up to 50-75% per month, lift heavy objects, and communicate effectively in English and local language

Qualifications include a B.S. degree with 3-5 years of relevant field service experience, familiarity with fluorescence microscopy and genetic analysis techniques, and working in a QSR certified organization

Required

B.S. degree with 3-5 years of relevant field service experience

Hands-on field service experience preferably in the biotech / life science / robotics field(s)

Strong troubleshooting skills in general electronics, electromechanical systems, robotics, liquid handlers, computers, and associated networking components

Excellent communication skills and ability to manage customer expectations while providing outstanding customer service

Working knowledge of technical support activities designed to achieve a world-class customer experience

Capable of working independently and in a team environment, communicating relevant scientific data effectively in oral and written format, working in a timely manner to meet defined deadlines, and representing NanoString effectively in the field

General understanding of IT and basic networking setup

Willingness and Availability to travel; overnight travel up to 50-75% per month. Must possess a valid passport and be able to obtain visas to travel internationally

Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move approximately 80-100 lbs on an infrequent basis

Able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing in both English and the local language (if other than English)

Preferred

1-5 years of experience in FSE instrument repair and field work

Familiarity with fluorescence microscopy and robotic systems

General knowledge of genetic analysis techniques (DNA microarrays, gene expression analysis, NGS/WGS, and quantitative PCR)

Experience working in a QSR certified organization
