Responsibilities
As a program advisor in private sector mortgage lending oversight, the incumbent of this position serves as a technical authority in Federal and private sector mortgage lending.
Provides guidance to SFHGLP management as it relates to the understanding of the lender's risk, interpretation of policy and procedures, and credit philosophy.
Develops and recommends new or substantially modified nationwide plans, policies and procedures for administering, monitoring and servicing the single-family housing guaranteed loan program.
Reviews, analyzes, and recommends appropriate actions on complex issues and submissions/referrals from other organizations.
Develops and fosters relationships with representatives of the mortgage lending industry and associated entities.

You must be a US Citizen or US National.
Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.

Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
Applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level; or its non-Federal equivalent that demonstrates: Knowledge of laws, practices and principles related to business trends/advances in real estate principles, practices, market and values, credit risk factors, and lending principles for Single Family Housing Guaranteed Loan Program (SFHGLP) operation; implements lender monitoring and quality assurance including contract administration, underwriting requirements, property requirements, lender approvals, lender terminations; experience conducting program reviews for single family housing including lender recertification and lender compliance reviews; maintains an effective system for monitoring, inspecting, and evaluating the administration of the SFHGLP; oral presentation skills and experience explaining program specifics to large audiences; provides exemplary customer service and written communication skills including drafting and editing written correspondence, analytical reports, and technical assistance directives.
There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-13 level.
