Responsibilities

Develop and execute strategic plans and programs that increase corporate and foundation philanthropic support to Scouting America.
Identify, manage and secure major and principal-level gifts from a portfolio of primary foundation and corporate giving prospects. Build-out and ensure forward portfolio movement for goal achievement.
Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle including initiating contact with potential corporate and foundation leadership and campaign management. Develop relationships with corporate and foundation representatives.
Develop and document cultivation strategies for prospects and potential prospects.
Manage operational and administrative activities of foundation grants including monitoring budget and expense spend-down.
Track prospect activity and data capture into the CRM donor tracking system to ensure metrics are available for reporting to senior leadership.
Integrate Scouting America’s evidence-based relationship cultivation strategy activities into foundation partnerships.
Create and manage annual goals, strategic planning, and performance plans with senior development leadership.
Regularly interface with leadership and senior management. Provide advice and counsel to the organization in areas of expertise. Lead development teams by providing input to help teams achieve donation targets, and own accountability for meeting annual foundation and corporate giving goals. Provide input and strategies to help teams achieve their donation targets through corporate and foundation giving.
Prepare reports and plans for follow-up for the relationship cultivation strategy of donors.
Provide recognition and stewardship strategies for Corporate and Foundation donors.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required

Strong communicator and writer
Knowledge and skillset to develop and cultivate relationships with representatives of corporations and foundations
Ability to draft proposals and close major and principal-level gifts
Excellent organizational, prioritization, and attention-to-detail skills
Execute strategic plans and programs that increase fundraising capacity
Prepare reports and plans for follow-up, cultivation and stewardship services for each donor or prospect contacted
Provide recognition and stewardship strategies for corporate and foundation donors
Collaborate with and provide consultative development advice to the National Office and Scouting America local councils
Identify, manage and secure major and principal-level gifts from a portfolio of primary foundation and corporate giving prospects
Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle including initiating contact with potential corporate and foundation leadership and campaign management
Develop relationships with corporate and foundation representatives
Manage operational and administrative activities of foundation grants including monitoring budget and expense spend-down

Strong knowledge of the philanthropic sector and various laws and regulations affecting them
Proficient writing, editing and proofreading skills
Excellent customer service and communication skills (listening, interpersonal, oral, and written)
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Strong planning and implementation skills
High level of personal and professional integrity and ethics
Excellent ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple competing assignments and responsibilities
Excellent ability to work well in a team environment

Ability to develop and maintain a good working relationship with staff, members of the community, elected officials, the media, colleagues in other foundations, and members of the nonprofit sector
