Responsibilities
Conduct thorough market research to identify potential industries, segments, and clients that align with the company’s offerings. Monitor competitor activity and industry trends to inform strategies and identify areas for differentiation.
Create and implement effective strategies to generate new leads through various channels (e.g., networking, social media, industry events). Identify and reach out to potential clients, initiating conversations to understand their needs and introduce the company's solutions.
Build rapport with decision-makers, influencers, and other relevant stakeholders within target organizations. Attend networking events, conferences, and trade shows to expand the company’s network and visibility.
Work closely with sales leadership to understand the sales process and align efforts for maximum impact. Evaluate potential leads to determine their fit and readiness for the company’s products or services, ensuring a smooth handoff to the sales team.
Collect feedback from potential customers to understand their pain points and needs, contributing to product development and refinement. Share findings and insights with the leadership team to inform business strategies and product positioning.
Assist in creating marketing collateral, presentations, and other materials that effectively communicate the company’s value proposition. Contribute to content creation for blogs, social media, and newsletters to attract and engage potential clients.
Help establish and maintain customer relationship management (CRM) systems to track leads, interactions, and sales activities. Collaborate with the founding team to create standard operating procedures and best practices for business development.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to lead generation, conversion rates, and overall business development success. Provide regular updates to the leadership team on business development activities, successes, and areas for improvement.
Collaborate with the founders to align business development efforts with the company’s overall vision and goals. Participate in discussions about company direction, growth strategies, and market opportunities.

Required
2+ years of experience in business development, sales, or related roles, preferably in a startup or high-growth environment. Demonstrated success in generating leads, building relationships, and closing deals.
Familiarity with the industry or sector in which the company operates, including knowledge of trends, challenges, and key players. Knowledge of competitors and industry dynamics that can inform business development strategies.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, capable of effectively conveying the company's value proposition to diverse audiences. Ability to understand client needs and position solutions that address their challenges.
Experience in building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, decision-makers, and industry professionals. Strong networking skills, with the capability to engage with potential clients and industry contacts effectively.
Experience using customer relationship management (CRM) software to track leads, manage relationships, and report on activities. Ability to understand and discuss the company’s products or services and how they meet client needs.
A strong drive to take initiative, work independently, and achieve results in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to navigate the challenges of a startup environment and adjust strategies as needed. Ability to identify challenges and propose effective solutions to meet client needs.

Preferred
A degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field is typically preferred, but not always required.
