Responsibilities

Identify prospective mid-level and high net worth donors in major cities in the US (with a focus on New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles).

Work with the Head of Partnerships to initiate and build relationships with private foundations, family offices, and individual donors, and secure funding.

Work with the Head of Partnerships to build and nurture relationships with top foundation and corporate prospects at the local and national level.

Assist Head of Partnerships in finding sponsors for special events throughout the year.

Required

A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in nonprofit development, with a strong track record of securing significant contributions from foundations, corporations, and other funding sources.

Demonstrated experience in identifying and securing contributions from individual donors; access to high-net-worth databases and capacity research tools is an advantage.

In-depth understanding of and established connections within the New York and California philanthropic landscapes.

Proven success in developing and strengthening donor relationships over time.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage diverse donors while fostering lasting partnerships.

Proactive, multitasking, self-starter; able to work well autonomously, with minimal supervision.

Comfortable working virtually.

Enthusiasm and a deep commitment to Building Markets’ mission and objectives.

A Bachelor’s degree is required.
