Responsibilities

Lead the identification and pursuit of new business opportunities, focusing primarily on institutional grants and supporting licensing ACLED data to public sector organizations.
Research, map, and prioritize prospective institutional donors and funding opportunities, leveraging tools such as Salesforce for documentation and tracking.
Develop and implement strategies to engage, cultivate, and secure new institutional partnerships and grants.
Craft compelling and tailored proposals, concept notes, and presentations to prospective donors, ensuring alignment with their priorities and organizational goals.
Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective donors, with an emphasis on converting leads into partnerships and grants.
Support the development of and execute an institutional outreach plan to create awareness and increase engagement with new and existing partners to promote ACLED's work and secure funding.
Collaborate with the External Affairs and Partnerships teams to develop promotional and branding materials that support new business efforts.
Establish and implement systems and processes to track new business activities, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with donor requirements.
Build and sustain relationships with institutional donors, partners, and stakeholders to foster long-term collaborations.
Lead engagement strategies to steward relationships with new and existing institutional donors.
Organize and participate in donor briefings, meetings, and events to promote organizational initiatives and strengthen donor relationships.
Partner with relevant internal teams to effectively communicate the impact of newly secured funding and projects.
Develop engagement materials and communication strategies tailored to institutional stakeholders.
Provide support for project start up, implementation, and administration for newly secured grants and licenses.
Oversee the development of essential project documents and ensure their approval by senior management.
Coordinate with internal teams to ensure alignment with project goals, timelines, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Review project deliverables as necessary to meet donor expectations and organizational standards.
Ensure compliance with donor and regulatory requirements for all newly secured funding.
Contribute to reporting, monitoring and evaluation, and learning efforts to demonstrate the impact of new grants and partnerships.
Gather insights from donor engagement and program implementation to refine strategies and approaches for future funding pursuits.
Share findings and lessons learned with internal teams to inform organizational priorities and improve outcomes.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required

At least 3 years of experience in institutional fundraising and new business development is essential.
Demonstrated success in securing new grants or partnerships with institutional donors, including public sector entities, or securing sales for a social enterprise or other impact-oriented organization.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience crafting compelling funding proposals.
Familiarity with tools such as Salesforce and proficiency in donor prospecting and relationship management.
Ability to represent the organization effectively at external events and build high-level relationships.

Preferred

Experience with donor engagement and grant management is preferred.
