Responsibilities
Shape and implement legal strategies that align with the company’s growth goals in the renewable energy storage sector.
Provide high-level counsel on legal risks and opportunities across all projects, ensuring that business and legal objectives remain in sync.
Lead efforts to comply with energy market regulations, focusing on ISO/RTO protocols in NYISO, ISO-NE, and PJM regions.
Oversee environmental and permitting compliance, ensuring project development aligns with federal and state guidelines for renewable energy storage.
Direct legal aspects of project financing, working closely with investors, lenders, and other stakeholders to structure agreements that drive value.
Engage in negotiations and relationship-building with financing partners to facilitate capital flow and project sustainability.
Develop and maintain governance frameworks that promote corporate integrity and transparency.
Guide board and executive leadership on corporate structure, governance standards, and legal obligations to support responsible scaling.
Craft, negotiate, and execute complex contracts across joint ventures, vendor partnerships, and development agreements.
Collaborate with external counsel to maximize contract value and protect the company’s interests, setting a foundation for sustainable partnerships.
Identify potential risks across development, construction, and operational phases, implementing preventative strategies to minimize legal exposure.
Lead dispute resolution processes, including mediation, arbitration, and litigation, to resolve issues swiftly and maintain project continuity.

Required
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school with active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
10+ years of legal experience, ideally with exposure to renewable energy or energy storage industries.
Deep knowledge of ISO/RTO market regulations (NYISO, ISO-NE, PJM) and FERC compliance.
Proven expertise in project finance, including investor and lender negotiations for large-scale energy projects.
Exceptional negotiation skills, with experience structuring complex agreements (PPAs, EPCs, development agreements).
Strong leadership capabilities, with experience managing legal teams and external counsel.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal issues into strategic business insights.
