Responsibilities
Provide geotechnical engineering and guidance for due diligence, investigation, impact assessment, improvement, and construction of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sector.
Assist with research, design, analysis, concept development, planning, and construction of various structures like roads, buildings, tunnels, dams, canals, levees, bridges, airports, water supply systems, underground storage, and sewage treatment.
Perform professional geotechnical engineering work related to site conditions, subsurface investigations, soil foundation engineering, settlement analysis, soil erosion, geological hazards, underground water, and slope stability for commercial, industrial, building, infrastructure, and transportation projects.
Lead field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, recommendations, design and development of plans and specifications, observation, inspection, and report preparation.
Verify site characteristics, provide technical assistance on design and construction issues related to rock and soil mechanics, and investigate subsurface and geological conditions for foundation, earth structures, and pavement sub-grades.
Write technical reports summarizing research findings and conclusions, develop work plans, coordinate field/site work and laboratory testing, and provide support services during construction.
Prepare complete, concise, and organized engineering calculations and reports, and demonstrate proficiency in Geotechnical software.
Travel to project sites, access construction sites in various climates, and possess physical abilities to carry out job functions.

Required
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering
5+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
Ability to prepare complete, concise, and organized engineering calculations and reports
Proficient in Geotechnical software including gINT, Slope/W, Seep/W, APILE, LPILE, GRLWeap, Settle3D (or other settlement software)
Ability to travel to project sites and the physical ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environmental conditions
Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable
Good verbal and written communication skills
Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
Ability to carry required instruments and equipment
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
The worker is subject to variable climate and environmental conditions including but not limited to extreme cold and heat
Preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) or EIT is preferred
