Responsibilities

Develop and analyze early indicators of financial performance.
Assist senior team members in forecasting and interpreting financial results, including variances from budget, to help identify medical cost improvement opportunities and potential risks.
Produce well-documented standard and ad hoc analytical reports and projects.
Present results of analyses and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
Creatively leverage analytical and statistical software tools to summarize large healthcare datasets to glean findings and actionable insights.
Collaborate with team members, including other healthcare analysts or actuaries, to ensure that work product meets the highest standards of quality.

Required

Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, statistics, health care management, decision sciences, or a similar, quantitative field
Minimum of two-to-four years of work experience in a quantitative job function
Demonstrated expertise in particularly-relevant analytical methods or health care business domain (payer/provider)
Ability to apply analytical and statistical software tools to produce complex, quantitative analyses of the health insurance industry
Demonstrate, beyond the novice level, the application of problem solving skills in the creation and interpretation of quantitative analyses
Ability to interpret and communicate to management and colleagues, verbally and through written reports, the results of complex, quantitative analysis
Experience using SQL, SAS, or R to conduct analysis
Demonstrated application of a similar programming language or analysis tool such as SPSS, STATA, or C++
Ability to extract and manipulate data from large, complex data sets with minimal supervision
Routine use of the most advanced quantitative features of Excel as a lower-level tool to supplement the use of advanced analysis tools

Preferred

Master's degree
Five years of work experience in a quantitative job function
Prior experience with financial and/or clinical modeling or data analysis
Prior experience applying analysis methods in the health insurance or health care delivery industries
General knowledge of business and economic principles
Data visualization experience using software packages such as Tableau or ArcGIS
