Responsibilities
Conduct initial medical record reviews for inpatient accounts within 24-48 hours of admission
Formulate compliant physician queries to clarify documentation discrepancies
Collaborate with physicians to ensure accurate medical record documentation
Analyze documentation findings to develop action plans for process improvements
Communicate and resolve coding issues in conjunction with coding and CDI managers

Required
Current licensure as an RN, RHIA, RHIT, or active CCS (AHIMA) or CPC-H (AAPC) coding credential
Minimum of 3 years of acute care experience as an RN or inpatient coding experience
Advanced clinical expertise and extensive knowledge of complex disease processes
Certification as a Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Clinical Documentation Improvement Professional (CDIP) required within 12 months of employment
Preferred
Experience in clinical documentation improvement or inpatient coding
Familiarity with federal, state, and private payer regulations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and adapt to changes in the healthcare environment
