Responsibilities

Assist higher-graded specialists in performing basic classification and position management duties for relatively non-complex positions up to levels authorized in delegation of authority.
Assist managers and supervisors by providing basic advisory guidance on appropriate titles, series, and grades; receiving and acting upon requests for desk audits, position reviews, and reclassification; accompanying senior level specialists on desk audits.
Assist with evaluating positions against prevailing Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Classification Standards, Guides, and Decisions; and preparing appropriate evaluation statements. Evaluations are carefully reviewed by the supervisor or team lead prior to finalizing the determination.
Assist with reviewing segments of existing and proposed organization structures, reorganizations, or realignment of functions. Assist with analyzing problems related to grade decisions, position and job design, implications of staffing and career planning, job accommodations, etc.; and assisting with recommending alternatives and/or solutions.
Participate in meetings (in-person, online, or over the phone) to interpret and correlate policy, procedures, and guidelines related to classification actions and recommend solutions.
Collaborate with customers and assist with reconciling conflicting viewpoints to deliver high quality products and timely service.

Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C or Non­Career SES employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the HR Office. Failure to disclose this information could result in disciplinary action including removal from Federal Service.
Serve a one year probationary period, if required.
Undergo and pass a background investigation (Tier 2 investigation level).
Have your identity and work status eligibility verified if you are not a GSA employee. We will use the Department of Homeland Security’s e-Verify system for this. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of continued employment.
To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or higher in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is entry level experience in position classification services. This experience can include entry-level assignments such as performing basic classification and position management duties for relatively non-complex positions; completing position description cover sheets and supporting documents; and communicating factual and procedural Human Resources (HR) information clearly, verbally, and in writing.
Possess a master's or equivalent level degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.B. or JD.
A combination of graduate level education and appropriate experience that together meet the qualification requirements of this position.
