Responsibilities
Serves as an IT Specialist leveraging a strong understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, including machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, and principles of responsible and ethical use of AI. Contributes to the development and updating of AI governance policies and standards for AI use across the department.
Leads and participates in AI and emerging technology related projects. Oversees the identification, tracking, evaluation, and governance of AI projects.
Develops and implements inventory management protocols to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of the AI use case data. Update and maintain an up-to-date inventory of the department's AI use cases, ensuring all AI applications are accurately recorded and categorized.
Provides training and guidance to stakeholders on AI use case documentation, compliance requirements, and risk management procedures.
Collaborates with technology stakeholders and cross functional teams across levels, including leadership within and across DHS, other federal agencies, and industry leaders on emerging technology, data sharing, regulatory imperatives, and security that address specific agency needs and challenges.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Applicant must possess IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four (4) competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving.
To qualify for the GS-13 grade level the applicant must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in Federal service or equivalent private/public sector experience.
