Responsibilities
Edit and review technical reports prepared by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Office of Analysis, Research, and Technology (ART).
Assign report numbers when new reports are received.
Work with project managers and contractors to ensure all submitted report content is complete and coherent.
Ensure all reports are correctly styled and formatted according to Government Printing Office (GPO) specifications.
Ensure all reports are 508-compliant (accessible for visual and/or hearing impaired) by incorporating alt text and captions as needed.
Develop accompanying materials for each report, to include a two-page (front and back) brief and a questions and answers (Q&A) list.
Submit reports for Federal concurrence within the Office of ART and track until all approvals are received and report is published.
Draft text for broadcast messages to be sent out by the Office Director announcing newly published reports.
Maintain a Teams-based publication tracking system for internal and Federal reference.
Maintain an organized folder system for all reports on the MCRR-ART shared drive.
Provide editorial support on all Office communications materials, to include letters, budget materials, project summaries, presentations, e-mail blasts, internal reports, fact sheets, newsletters, bulletins, brochures, etc.
Provide basic graphic design support, using Microsoft Office programs, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and/or Quark (if needed).
Work with project managers within the Office of ART to coordinate webinars.
Assist with scheduling and registration details.
Assist with content development.
Maintain the Master Distribution List (Excel spreadsheet), ensuring that all contact information contained within the list is accurate and up-to-date.
Work with Federal staff to develop and edit content, hard copy materials, etc. for the Transportation Review Board Meeting held each year in January.
As needed, assist with the following: Project Management Information System, Attend training, develop processes, and assist with data organization and inputs in the new Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management tool, USDOT Research Hub (managed by RITA) Project Updates, Review existing content, compare with project information hosted in Oracle Primavera, update as needed (requires permissions), Office of ART website maintenance, Review Office website for errors and inconsistencies, Make note of edits and provide to Junior Associate, or, depending on urgency, complete WebCAT request asking for immediate updates, Field general requests from Federal staff and project manager for management/distribution of work.
Other duties as assigned.

Required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
3 years of strong experience writing, reading, and editing critically technical documents
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experienced in Microsoft Office—especially advanced use of Microsoft Word
Motivation, willing to work hard and learn to take on new responsibilities
Being a team player
Preferred
Liberal Arts degree
Proficiency in data analysis
Advanced use of Microsoft Excel
SharePoint experience
Basic graphic design support, using Microsoft Office programs, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and/or Quark
Advanced Microsoft Word: 1 year
