Responsibilities
Design and implement machine learning models to extract insights from our extensive dataset of illness signals and consumer behavior
Maintain and improve Kinsa's illness signals through advanced data processing and analysis techniques
Develop and refine predictive analytics and statistical models to enhance illness forecasting
Translate complex epidemiological and consumer behavior insights into clear, actionable recommendations for clients
Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to inform and execute product strategy
Develop prototypes for new features leveraging our illness signals
Serve as a domain expert on the team for all related questions
Analyzing the latest illness signal data to identify emerging trends or anomalies
Creating custom demand forecasts for our healthcare and retail partners
Presenting findings on recent illness patterns and their impact on consumer behavior to a major retailer client
Working with engineers to optimize data pipelines for real-time illness tracking and consumer trend analysis
Brainstorming new features with the product team to enhance Kinsa's insights for brand partners
Collaborating with the epidemiologist team to refine illness forecasting models for an upcoming flu season

Required
Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Epidemiology, or related field
5+ years of experience in data science roles, preferably in health tech, retail analytics, wearable technology, or digital therapeutics
Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
Experience with machine learning algorithms, and statistical modeling, particularly in time-series analysis and forecasting
Familiarity with cloud computing platforms and containerization/orchestration tools (e.g. AWS, Docker, Airflow)
Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for diverse clients
Strong product sense and ability to connect data insights to product strategy
Preferred
Background in product management or close collaboration with product teams in a data-driven environment is preferred
Understanding of retail and health related industries
