Responsibilities

Serving as the recreation and scenery resource specialist on multidisciplinary teams for a variety of resource management activities such as recreation planning, forest restoration, wilderness and wild scenic river planning;
Preparing or reviewing site analyses, recreation and scenic resource specialist reports including design features, proposed mitigation measures and visual simulations;
Participating in the development of land and management plans related to recreation, scenery and related resources;
Designing a variety of moderately to highly complex recreational facilities, using computer-assisted design technology.

Required

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.
Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
This position requires initial and continuing qualifications in the use of firearms as outlined in the Gun Control Act of 1968, amended by the Lautenberg Amendment of 1996.
This is a drug testing designated position. You will be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. Appointment is based on a negative result.
Degree: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in landscape architecture or landscape design.
Combination of education and experience-For each year short of graduation, the applicant must have had 1 year of experience under professional leadership and guidance of such character and diversity as to be a satisfactory substitute for the required education. This experience must have included original landscape design.
For the GS-12: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as three or more of the following: Serving as the recreation and scenery resource specialist on multidisciplinary teams for a variety of resource management activities such as recreation planning, forest restoration, wilderness and wild scenic river planning; AND/OR Preparing or reviewing site analyses, recreation and scenic resource specialist reports including design features, proposed mitigation measures and visual simulations; AND/OR Participating in the development of land and management plans related to recreation, scenery and related resources; AND/OR Designing a variety of moderately to highly complex recreational facilities, using computer-assisted design technology.
If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
