Responsibilities

Lead a team of 2-3 Cloudera administrators to manage and support big data platforms, ensuring smooth operation and troubleshooting of issues across Cloudera environments.

Hands-on management and optimization of Cloudera technologies, including but not limited to Hive, HBase, Solr, Impala, Kafka, and other CDP services.

Leverage AWS resources extensively, especially in the context of the public cloud, to migrate, manage, and scale big data workloads.

Lead the migration of workloads to the cloud, particularly focusing on the recent migration efforts to AWS.

Develop and maintain automation scripts for system management, configuration, and deployment using Ansible or other similar tools.

Ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of the big data infrastructure, proactively identifying potential issues and optimizing processes.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior admins, setting best practices for Cloudera and AWS cloud management.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective deployment of data workflows and analytics platforms.

Perform troubleshooting and problem resolution in collaboration with development, operations, and infrastructure teams.

Required

5+ years of experience with Cloudera administration, with a strong understanding of Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) – both private and public cloud environments.

Hands-on expertise with Cloudera services including Hive, HBase, Solr, Impala, Kafka, and other core components of the Cloudera ecosystem.

Extensive experience with AWS cloud services, having worked heavily with cloud infrastructure and managed migration of workloads to AWS.

Solid expertise in Linux systems administration, with an ability to troubleshoot and optimize system performance.

Strong background in automation, particularly using Ansible for configuration management and deployment.

Proven experience in leading and managing teams of technical professionals.

Demonstrated ability to manage and scale big data solutions on both on-premises and public cloud platforms.

Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred

Certification in AWS or Cloudera is a plus.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines for big data environments.

Familiarity with other big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Flume, etc.

Prior experience in cloud-native architectures and microservices is beneficial.
