Lead Fire Protection Engineer

Responsibilities
Develop building and fire code compliance documents and fire life safety designs for new production lines / materials and other improvement in the facility
Support EHS on hazardous material analysis for code compliances purposes, such as chemical classification, chemical quantity analysis, chemical inventory management, and related system design support.
Develop and create fire protection system design criteria for new production lines / materials and other improvements in the facility
Review and comment on shop drawing design packages developed by contractors.
Review work instructions, equipment, and current work practices to identify the need for additional controls.
Drive corrective action resolution with a hands-on and innovative approach to problem-solving.
Partner in training sessions and information flow down sessions.
Learn risk assessments processes and drive improvement.
Evaluate and oversee outcomes from detailed risk assessment processes to drive action resolution (e.g. detailed engineering evaluations, project cost assessments, proposals to key decision-makers, etc.)

Required
Bachelor Degree Fire Protection required.
Registered Fire Protection (PE) required.
10+ years of experience in overseeing Owner’s Capital Development projects in either medical, industrial, and/or scientific laboratory facilities, through entire project life cycle, from inception to turn-over.
Demonstrated experience in Life Safety / Means of Egress code analysis, including smoke modeling and rationale analysis.
Demonstrated experience in AHJ interface for permitting and/or inspection.
Demonstrated experience in Hazardous materials analysis (HMIS and HMMP).
Demonstrated experience in High-pile storage analysis and design, including Commodity Fire Classification.
Demonstrated experience in In-rack equipment fire suppression design.
Demonstrated experience in Clean Agent fire suppression system design.
Demonstrated experience in Fire alarm design.
Demonstrated experience in CSI Specifications coordination.
Possess experience in Type I or Type II Construction types, either new construction/group-up and/or remodel.
Knowledge of IBC, IFC, and NFPA.
Knowledge of CSI specifications applicable to project scope.
Proficiency in Bluebeam, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneNote, Revit, CAD.
Excellent time management, effective communication in both verbal and written, and strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Proactive problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards.
Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards.
Preferred
Experience in EV and/or battery manufacturing strongly preferred.
