Responsibilities
Perform design, development, and manufacture of state-of-the-art aircraft lighting systems with specific responsibility for optical components associated with products for commercial and military aerospace applications.
Lead the optical design process, from concept to production.
Perform optical analysis and simulations using Light Tools to ensure product performance and reliability.
Opto-mechanical tolerance analysis
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define optical requirements and specifications.
Design and develop complex optical systems, components, and assemblies.
Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.

Required
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
6+ years of experience in optical design and development
Strong knowledge of optical design principles and methodologies
Proficiency in optical design software and simulation tools such as Light Tools
Experience with optical testing and characterization
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Knowledge of, and substantial experience in, optical physics & the principles of illumination system design & manufacture, inclusive of appropriate optical design software, understanding of refractive and reflective optics, as well as state-of-the-art light source technologies, i.e. LEDs, lasers, fiber optics, etc.
U.S. Person status (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization)
Preferred
Proven track record of successful optical design projects
Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers
Strong understanding of industry standards and best practices
Experience with optical system integration and optimization
Knowledge of optical materials and manufacturing processes
