Responsibilities
Possesses specialized discipline or functional expertise that is utilized across office and/or business line boundaries to complete work.
Uses professional judgment to direct and independently complete assigned engineering designs.
Assigns tasks and schedules to team members, checks the accuracy of assigned tasks, and participates in the creation of firm-wide standards.
Makes design decisions that meet customer needs, identifies and resolves technical issues, and assists in bidding or contractor selection.
Monitors construction, supervises field personnel, responds to contractor questions, and prepares change orders.
Participates in engineering services proposals, communicates with clients, and signs and seals engineering documents.
Provides mentoring and technical leadership to less experienced staff, participates in professional associations, and assists in business development efforts.
Acts as a technical expert on projects, provides mentorship, and engages in external relations activities of the firm.
Provides technical and project leadership, acts as a mentor to staff, and directs activities of assigned team members.

Required
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, and be professionally registered.
8+ years of relevant engineering experience with a focus on Traffic related projects including studies, analysis, traffic signal design and modeling.
Possess a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
Demonstrate specialty or deep functional or discipline knowledge which positions the Lead Engineer as a respected regional/national expert in their focal area.
Experience working with HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, VISTRO, Corsim, Microstation/Geopak, SignCAD, and Rodel is desired.
Strong working knowledge of MS Office and discipline-specific software programs.
Capable of correctly operating technical analysis equipment and computer equipment.
Demonstrates strong technical verbal and technical writing skills and be able to read technical literature and engineering plans.
Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to apply professional knowledge to the solution of both routine and non-routine tasks and engineering activities.
Expected to develop financial project management skills through assigned project work and assigned project management assignments.
Active involvement in professional organizations such as ITE, ITS America, ASCE, and APWA is desired.
Valid driver’s license in the state of residence and a reliable means of transportation to travel for company business.
Preferred
PTOE Certification is preferred.
