Responsibilities

Develop intellectual property monetization strategy for one or more market sectors based on the Intellectual Ventures patent portfolio.

Providing analysis of the technology landscape and provide guidance on additional monetization opportunities for the fund.

Perform detailed technical analyses of a market or a specific company’s products and/or services relative to the IV portfolio.

Includes analyzing market reports, product documentation, product teardown reports, reverse engineering, and driving projects to obtain the necessary detailed information.

Review, identify and select patents within IV’s patent portfolio that are relevant to the identified company’s specific technologies, products and services.

Collaborate with members of IV’s team as appropriate.

Provide and develop detailed correlation of the technical scope of the relevant patents with the detailed information of the identified company’s technology, products and/or services.

Identify and recommend to IV technical experts required to support account development.

Provide clear, concise, and convincing documentation supporting that the patent technically covers the identified company’s products or services.

Supplement or modify the evidence and/or documentation as required.

Present the documented evidence internally to the extended team, and as requested, present externally to the specific company.

Required

Extensive US patent monetization experience

In-depth technical knowledge of one or more key industries including AI/ML/Cloud Computing, Wireless Communications, Semiconductors, Network Infrastructure

Demonstrable US patent monetization/licensing experience

Knowledge of the technical requirements of patents (e.g. understanding the invention, technical scope of the patent, patent claim analysis, state of the technology at time of invention, etc.)

General understanding of the legal scope of patent protection

Education: PhD or Master of Science (with equivalent experience) in the field of Communications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or Computer Engineering

Industry experience / knowledge (three years or greater)
