Responsibilities
Performs Mammographic procedures to include screening, diagnostic, and stereotactic procedures.
Applies the necessary technical judgment to obtain studies of an acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and the patients’ needs.
Assists, prepares and positions patients as required to perform Mammographic procedures.
Performs daily, weekly, monthly and semi-annual QC functions, related to mammography, to ensure compliance with MQSA and ACR.
Assist with ACR accreditation.
Provides patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures by informing the patient of the nature of the procedure, the area to be imaged and any specific instructions the patient may need.
Ensures all radiographic images are appropriately labeled as specified by the department SOP.
Assists physician directly as required.
Operates specialized digital imaging equipment using established ACR and FDA guidelines along with imaging protocols set within the mammography program.
Performs preparation of breast biopsies and needle localizations and accessories required to assist the physician in performing procedures.
Assist in preparation of sterile fields and trays pertinent to particular breast imaging procedures.
Maintains statistical reports for inspections by DOH, MQSA.
Maintains 15 CEU’s every 3 years, 200-documented case numbers every 2 years.
Employs radiation protection measures and follows departmental protocols to keep exposure of patients and hospital personnel to a minimum.
Evaluates images for technical acceptability and ensures images are transmitted to PACS in a timely fashion.
Ensures that all studies performed are completed in Epic Radiant in a timely fashion.
Ensures Radiology room and equipment cleanliness, at the start and at the end of the shift, to include removal of soiled or dirty linen.
Maintains supplies and accessories in radiographic room necessary to safely perform duties, as required.
Accurately records all required patient tracking information into EPIC Radiant.
Schedules exams into Radiant as required.
Informs supervisor or appropriate personnel of needed repairs to equipment or unsafe conditions.
Prevents the spread of infection to self, patients, visitors, and other employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocol.
Performs related clerical duties in the absence of support personnel.
Attends in-services and other professional development meetings as required.
Maintains in good standing, licensure specific to job to include adherence to Article 35 of the Public Health Code.
Other relevant duties as assigned.
Maintains appropriate Continuing Medical Education credits in accordance with the ARRT.

Required
Associates degree (AA) or Graduate of an AMA/J.C.E.R.T. approved program in Radiologic Technology
New York State License (L.R.T.) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Mammography Registered or Eligible. (ARRT- M)
Preferred
2 years diagnostic experience preferred. (Will consider new graduates).
