Responsibilities

Support the Senior Manager, Science and Data and the Climate & Energy Team in analysis and engagement on planning processes and projects in N. America by managing and providing science, spatial data and cartography for internal and external uses.
Demonstrate in meetings and on request the latest avian ecology GIS mapping and interactions of birds with renewable energy in order to engage effectively with the latest science and analysis.
Participate with the Senior Manager in outreach opportunities to educate Audubon membership on the organization’s position and approach to renewable energy in the form of meetings and webinars and public comments.
Manage relationships with Audubon science, conservation, policy leadership and programs as directed.
Partner closely with the Climate Strategy team to advance Audubon’s climate and clean energy objectives.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, ecology, biology, geography, geospatial science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
5+ years demonstrated experience in GIS mapping techniques and tools in the ESRI platform. Some knowledge of avian ecology, as well as siting and conservation policies that apply to energy projects or related infrastructure on public and private lands.
Experience with ESRI desktop software, specifically ArcGIS Pro 3.X and extensions.
Some experience with ESRI Model Builder, Python, R, and the use of scripts and command line programs to manipulate data.
Experience using ArcGIS Online to create and communicate using Experience Builder, Dashboards, Storymaps, and other ESRI frameworks for packaging content.
Demonstrated proficiency in cartography and effective map design.
Familiarity with geospatial modelling, statistical analysis, and how scientific results are translated into spatial data.
Knowledge of and experience with wildlife conservation issues and an appreciation for nature.
Demonstrated experience in managing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and operating in a dynamic, fast‐paced environment.
Strong project leadership skills, including the ability to collaborate with partners, and manage teams and projects ethically and in a timely manner. Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts creatively.
Attention to detail, excellent time-management, and organizational skills.
Self-starter with a strong collaborative work ethic and ability to work independently.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentations, and the ability to synthesize and communicate technical and complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to write technical documents as well as popular science articles and blogs also required.
Demonstrated experience working across disciplines and building solutions for users of a varying skill level; ability to partner with staff and leaders across the Audubon network.
Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other key Microsoft Office and web-based products.
Must be willing to travel as needed
